~ Bloom…DOH! ~

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Darn it!  I overshot Bloom Day and I’m tardy to the party again!  Boy the 15th really sneaks up on your fast…

I thought I would have more things blooming by now but a lot of the plants are just barely budding and haven’t really popped out yet. Like last month, the Japanese Quince is blooming and there are a few Daffodils still scattered here and there but with a lot more Muscari in the grass.

New editions would be the Bridal Wreath Spirea that is just getting started…

and the first and only Iris currently making an appearance…

I also have a new Chinese Fringe Flower, some Alliums, and a tiny Germander flowering. But I can’t honestly count those since I just got them from the nursery. Once planted and established in the yard they would probably not normally be in bloom.

I thought my Columbines would be out by now but they are just putting up their flower stalks…which is weird, because five blocks away there are some in full bloom. I also see everyone else in my neighborhood has their Irises in bloom too.

So I’m not the only one tardy to the party… my plants heard the alarm but decided to roll over and hit the snooze button to catch just a wee bit more sleep.

~ Bloom Day Bust ~

I was going to start this year off by playing along with the other garden bloggers who participate in “Bloom Day” …but alas the 15th came around and I got no flowers. ..sniff sniff.

This made it kind of hard to start playing in the cool kid’s sandbox.  So I hereby declare my own rule…that there should be a five day grace period for beginners!

So, seeing as there is now a new addendum to Bloom Day;  I can post this daffodil that came out last night as a bona fide bloom day entry! …And a near perfect specimen if I do say so myself.

Yes that is all I have…stop laughing!

I really need to get some pansies.

gif_illustration_htmlbugs

There are still a few bugs in the blog.  Mainly the comments feature and page columns have been giving me problems …ggggrrrrrrrrrrr …hhhmmmpf!

Trying to find out why it doesn’t work right has been making my head spin and all this .html code is starting to run together and look like a tiny mass of microscopic organisms.  I should have expected this wouldn’t be as simple as I had delusionally hoped.  I always seems to start new projects just when I have a million other things to do. Despite the coding errors, I have managed to put up some of the more popular plantlist pages from the old blog and I will be adding more to the sidebar menu soon.  If you were brought to this page via a search engine still linking to the old site pages and couldn’t find what you were looking for, I apologize…but keep checking and things should be resolved… uhm… eventually?

I can’t quit nit-picking over the small design details; but I will have to settle it soon because the garden is about to demand a lot more attention.

The weather has been nice the last couple of days and it’s suppose to be warm and sunny again tomorrow. I was out for a bit today poking around and you could feel the spring karma in the air…a certain kind of energy being released by everything around me.  It gave me that pressing feeling, you know the one I mean…that frantic excited feeling…the one that says, “You better get it together…and FAST…because the garden is about to pop!
