It Bloomed!

People…the color is so incredible! I am really overjoyed. Next to growing my first tomato and eggplant, this is right up there on the (short) list of major garden accomplishments. My obstinate nature would not let me throw this plant away when it was a dried up shriveled mess. Finally my stubbornness pays off…and what a pay day!

It Has Buds!

omg! omg! omg! … This plant is going to live! It has flower buds on it! This is crazy. The thing was dead and I cut it all to pieces to get it out of the pot; then I planted it in too much shade and gave up on it when it didn’t do anything but turn brown. I quit watering it and now….well now, it’s alive and is going to make a flower! Amazing.

It’s Alive!

ok, maybe it doesn’t need as much water as I thought. I gave up on this plant and thought it was dead. I stopped watering it in the late summer and fall…it was still pretty hot then. I didn’t pull it up though I left it just in case and forgot about it…Well…it’s putting up new stems and leaves! Seriously I am shocked it is alive. I am going to try to leave it alone and let it get bigger without fussing over it. I did clear away the weeds and grass around it, and made a border of bricks around it so that James wouldn’t run over it with the lawn mower…and I might try to give it some fertilizer…but other than that…I am going to leave it alone.
YEAH it’s alive!!!! So happy. I hope it really does live and get pretty flowers on it.

Dead?
I shouldn’t have bought this. I didn’t realize it needed so much water. It sat waiting to be planted and the soil dried up. It was horribly root bound and I had to cut the pot off with a pocket knife. The roots had to be cut to loosen them up. I planted it in a hurry and didn’t pick a good spot, it needs more water than what it will get where I put it. It will probably die. I’m very sad about it since it has beautiful leaves. Crying.
