We Have Lift Off…

The bulbs are up and blooming. They popped out of the ground yesterday and began stretching out today. They aren’t all up, I’m only counting about 7 of them so the rest will probably appear over the next day or so.

They are quite lovely and I already want more of them. I just wish they were not such a hassle to order, not to mention the price. I will have to take good care of them and keep them divided so that I have more of them in the years to come. After all the waiting, it was worth it to finally have these heirlooms making an appearance in the garden.

Bad Timing

After a year, I finally got these bulbs in the mail. I was really busy when they came last year and I didn’t have time to plant them. I had to store them, then it got cold and I couldn’t put them out over winter. I got them in the ground in early April. I wonder if they will bloom this year? I’m sad thinking I will have to wait another year before I get to see blooms. I hope the squirrels don’t dig them up before they get established. Overall I am worried about them but I guess the best thing to do now is to just forget about them and let them be a happy surprise when and if they ever come up.

New Heirlooms

I just ordered 10 of these bulbs from Old House Gardens. I know it is a little early since they won’t ship the bulbs until late spring, but every time I go to buy them they are sold out. So I am trying to get a head start by back ordering for next year. I hope they pick out some good ones!.
