It's getting BIGGER! I moved it a tiny bit today. The bottom was getting "flat" and had a funny green discoloration so I tried to roll it over slightly
to the right. I hope I didn't hurt the vine.

I went out to the garden yesterday evening to check on the pumpkin since I had not looked at it in a while...HOLY CRAP...it is growing fast!
It is also starting to turn a little yellowish. It's hard to tell the size from this photo, but it's already about the same size as a basketball, and it's heavy.

I didn't see any bruising or soft spots but the one before this just developed it overnight before rotting and breaking off. I'm crossing my fingers that it will live. The vine has set deep roots under the node where the pumpkin is growing...it's growing crazy out of control and sending out side shoots with more blooms.

Well I had one pumpkin that was about the size of a large coconut but it developed a rotten spot all of a sudden and came disconnected from the vine. Not sure what caused it, maybe all the rain we have had was just too much for it?

I have a second one that is now about the same size that the first one was when it rotted. So far it seems to be doing ok. There are also about four smaller ones on the vine that aren't much bigger than an egg or a lemon.
I read that I am suppose to remove extras off the vine if I want one or two large ones but I'm scared if I remove them something will happen to the larger one and then I won't have any. For now I am just leaving them alone.

The vine is easily 20 feet long and almost growing into the neighbors yard!
I need to go out and redirect it, but it has rooted all along the vine and this will  NOT be an easy task. I am procrastinating out of fear I will kill it.

 WAITING...

Brian gave me a giant pumpkin plant that he started from seed. I planted it and it's  really taken off across the garden, stretching out about 8 feet long now. There are lots of blooms along the stem but none have set any fruit.

It has been raining a LOT, and it doesn't seem to be complaining. I hope it gets pollinated...it would be so cool to have a giant pumpkin this year for Halloween.
