  "City Of Haarlem"

Update:  We had some sun; it warmed up a bit the last couple of days and the Hyacinths have started to bloom! They are not full yet and they are a lot shorter than I expected them to be. As you can see from the first photo something is already chewing on the leaves!  I wonder if they will get taller as the blooms open and stretch out?  I can already see I don't have enough of
them. There were only 10 bulbs in the box and I spread them out too much.

  "New Sprouts!"

I planted these bulbs in early winter 2004 along with some Tulip bulbs. The photo above shows the sprouts as they were breaking through the dirt in mid-February 2005. I will have more pictures soon since they are
developing buds and are about ready to sprout.

:: Water & Soil ::
Sandy loam.
Well draining, moderately moist
soil.

:: Location ::
Front flowerbed facing East.

 :: Propagation ::

Bulbs planted Winterl 2004 for first bloom in Spring 2005.
(store bought bulbs)

Some plants returned in 2006.

:: Characteristics ::
Pretty flower, but too they really aren't good for my area. you need a lot fo them to make an impact and cooler climate for them to be perrenial. they are short, blooming lcose to the ground and then they droop over because the flower heads are heavy. they may grow stronger if receiving more sun, mine only had filtered sun.
