I was hesitant to label these a "weak" perennial since they seem to be doing so well, but I have read that they will only bloom for a few seasons and then they will start to disappear, so we will see how they do in the next year or so. The plants were originally put down in the spring of 2004 and have put our fresh leaves early this year. I have kept the dried stalks trimmed back over the winter and fall and regularly deadhead them when they are in bloom.

These plants were a gift from my mom to help me get my garden started with some color and they were the first plants that I added to the flowerbed after clearing all the debris and vines that had accumulated over years of neglect.
