04.08.08 :: Let's Try This Again....
![]() Who knew carrots would be so difficult! I sowed seeds this year directly into the ground. They took forever to come up. There are some though and they are just now about two inches tall after having been planted two months ago. The ones that did come up are crowded together in odd bunches. I am having to thin them out a lot which isn't leaving many carrots. The Chatenay came up three weeks before the Danvers and they are a lot taller and more frilly. Since they aren't growing very fast I doubt they are going to be very successful, I am expecting further problems from them, but we'll see. I hope I at least get a few that aren't stunted and are sweet and not woody in texture...but it's getting hot fast. Do carrots grow in hot summer heat? I need to look that up, but I am thinking they don't. I want carrots so bad darn it! I am going to do a Fall garden this year I swear. I will plant them again in September for sure. ::

Frilly
![]() UPDATE: Nope they never made it out of the pot. They were too crowded together and too little time kept me from getting them seperated. I will try carrots again another year. .................................................................................................................................. These
seedlings were started by Brian.
They
are all growing together in a small
container and they will have to be separated to be planted in the
ground. Ick!
I will post more later to let you know if they survive that
process. Until
then, they make a pretty container plant!
